There is nothing like a hot dog fresh off the grill or a hamburger that is grilled perfectly that the cheese melts as soon as it is placed on top. According to Hot Dog History "During the July 4th weekend alone, 155 million will be downed." That is a lot of hot dogs!!

Unfortunately each year there is a large amount of injuries that occur with grilling. Read these Do's and Dont's below to become educated on how to prevent injuries.

Do:

-Keep the grill AT LEAST 10 ft. away from your house.

-Clean the grill! Grease build up is a major source for grill fires.

-Always double check for any gas leaks.

-Keep the grill area clean. Check for tripping hazards, relocate any umbrellas that may be nearby.

-Keep a fire extinguisher in an area that is relatively close to the grill. Be sure to know how to properly use the extinguisher.

Don't:

- Turn the gas on while the grill lid is closed.

- Leave the grill unattended while on.

- Load up the grill with food. Spread out the food!

- Use a grill in an enclosed patio.

- If a fire does occur do not waste time trying to figure out how the fire extinguisher works, CALL 911 immediately.

Should a fire occur, your homeowner’s insurance policy may help you recover. Call us today (484) 933-4103 to make sure your policy is up to date and your assets are covered.

We wish you a safe and Happy National Grilling Month!
